Marco here, checking in from Mexico City. This week, let's talk about the dual journey every digital nomad embarks on: exploring the world around us and diving deep into our own inner landscapes.
I love to walk every Thursday around a park in my neighborhood in Mexico City. Exploring new locations, new coffee shops, and new restaurants has become a habit for me. Walking around with fresh perspectives helps me learn from my surroundings, my neighborhood, and my local coffee shop vendor. I usually go to Joselo Coffee Shop by Polanquito, but sometimes I mix it up and try a new coffee spot. This routine helps me, in the real estate world, understand the neighborhood better. How does it feel to live here? How would my future guests feel if they lived in this neighborhood? Where would they go for coffee? What kinds of restaurants would they enjoy? I’ve done this before in Colonia Roma and Juarez, and Guadalajara. I love feeling like a tourist in my own neighborhood. It helps me better understand the day-to-day life here. I want to ensure everyone around U-Co is happy, healthy, and surrounded by a safe environment. The ultimate goal is to make everyone feel at home regardless of their country of origin.
Here are some tips and strategies for making the most of your dual journey:
Discover New Cities: Immerse yourself in different cultures and local experiences. Each city has its own vibe and hidden gems waiting to be explored.
Discovering Your Own Neighborhood: Explore your local area with fresh eyes and appreciate the hidden gems close to home. Sometimes the best discoveries are right around the corner.
Environmental Awareness: Travel sustainably and respect the environments you explore. Leave no trace and make a positive impact wherever you go.
Personal Growth: Reflect on your experiences and how they shape your inner self. Every journey is an opportunity for personal development.
Mindfulness Practices: Stay grounded and connected with your inner self while on the move. Meditation, yoga, or simple deep-breathing exercises can help.
Connecting with Locals: Talk to people. Build meaningful relationships and understand diverse perspectives. Engaging with locals can enrich your travel experience.
Balancing Exploration and Rest: Find the right balance between adventure and downtime to recharge. Both are essential for a fulfilling nomadic life.
Journaling and Self-Reflection: Document both your external and internal journeys. Keeping a journal helps you process your experiences and thoughts.
Physical Wellness: Stay active and healthy while traveling to enhance both your physical and mental well-being. Regular exercise is key.
Digital Detox: Take breaks from technology to focus on your surroundings and inner thoughts. It helps you stay present and mindful.
Setting Personal Goals: Use your travels as opportunities to achieve personal milestones and growth. Each destination can be a step towards a bigger goal.
Embrace both the outer and inner journeys, and you'll unlock your true happiness, it has worked for me. Remember, it's not just about where you go but also about who you become along the way.
