Remember that feeling when you had to say goodbye to something you really liked? Maybe it made you a little sad, or you sometimes wish you still had it around.
Let's go back to 2018 together. Imagine this: I decided to start my own entrepreneurial journey. But to do that I had to leave the USA, which meant, I had to pack up all my stuff into just a carry-on and backpack. The important things were easy: laptop, phone, camera, and, of course, my favorite jeans and black t-shirts. But everything else? Well, I had to say goodbye to my car, bed, tennis rackets, and desktop computer.
My whole life in suitcases. Austin 2018.
Now, I'm all about keeping things simple, so this process was exciting but also a bit nostalgic. Saying goodbye to materialistic things can sometimes be tough. But don't worry, I've got some tips if you ever need to do the same:
Gather all your things and put them on your bed. It's like having a little reunion with them!
Pick out the stuff you use every day and put them in your backpack. Think about what you might need, especially if you end up going on a big adventure.
Choose outfits that you can mix and match. Try to pick seven outfits (one for each day) and don't forget a jacket for when it's chilly. If you haven’t worn it in a year, let it go!
Shoes can be a tough choice. Just pick two pairs—one for walking and one for casual wear. Comfort is key!
The hardest part? Fitting everything into a carry-on that's not too heavy, 10kg max. Some tough choices need to be made here. It's like a puzzle!
Lastly, if there's stuff you don't need anymore, you can sell it or leave it at your parents' place. They might have some space for those larger suitcases.
And here's a tip for anyone thinking about making a big change: Start with the basics. Figure out what you really need for your next adventure. Life is like a suitcase—sometimes you need different tools depending on the journey. So pack light and be ready for whatever comes your way!
Remember to keep exploring and #livefree. Happy travels U-Co Fam!
Community News
We've been decluttering! Last week, we cleared out a bunch of old stuff that was still hanging around the patio in Roma. But here's the big news: we've sold U-Co Guadalajara. Remember Juan? Well, he and his pals are the new owners, running it as Chingon Coliving. Give them a shout-out and book your stay here https://colivingchingon.com/. Juan has been by my side at U-Co for four years, but now it's his turn to spread his wings and fly solo. We're rooting for him all the way!
Out with the old, in with the new! If we're going to take this to the next level, we've got to be ready for the adventure of a lifetime. Year 5 is right around the corner in September, and we need to gear up for the next five years. It's time to pack our tools and get ready for the journey ahead!
